The Chlor-Alkali process is an important industrial method for the electrolysis of brine solution (sodium chloride solution), which produces three main products: sodium hydroxide (NaOH), chlorine gas (Cl2), and hydrogen gas (H2).

Equation:
2NaCl(aq) + 2H2O(l) ⟶ 2NaOH(aq) + Cl2(g) + H2(g)

The process uses a DC electric current and takes place in a special electrolysis cell.
